Success Stories

Wesley & James

Wesley (13) and James (18) are teenaged brothers from Montana. They share an inherited genetic defect that requires each to need a double lung transplant. Their mom is their primary caregiver, with other family members coming to Seattle to help out as they can. Transplant House was able to provide a two-bedroom apartment for the family. One bedroom has been furnished with double beds for the boys, and includes a TV so that they can play games and watch movies while they wait for “the call.” The second bedroom accommodates two queen beds for their mom and visiting family. The boys are on oxygen 24/7 so there is lots of extra equipment filling the apartment. Transplant House has been able to provide Wesley, James and their family a private apartment setting for as long as they need it that is comfortably set-up for their situation. They live in Montana, but truly feel they have a home in Seattle.

How You Can Help

Our goal is to give transplant patients one less thing to worry about. We believe that having a place to stay helps make the transplant process a little less difficult and a little more comforting for patients and their caregivers. By donating or volunteering, you help provide many of the amenities that make a "home away from home" in Seattle for a transplant patient. Please consider support transplant patients by either donating or volunteering.
